It's hard to believe, but it's time to start making plans for the 2025-26 school year! Open Enrollment for the 2025-26 school year will be March 13th from 12pm-6pm at Austin Tracy Elementary. If you have a student that will be entering Kindergarten (turning 5 before August 1st), or you are interested in enrolling your child (age 3-4) in PreK this is the time to do it! Open Enrollment is also for any other student (PK through 6th grade) that would like to attend Austin Tracy next year! We will have staff onsite to assist with the enrollment process, give tours of the building, and discuss any, and all questions, that you may have about what we can offer at Austin Tracy Elementary. If you are unable to come and see us on March 13th, you can always complete the enrollment process on the Austin Tracy Elementary homepage at: https://ate.barren.kyschools.us/o/bcsd/page/registration Our parents/families have always been our strongest advocates. Many of our families drive from neighboring counties, and adjacent communities, because of the love, and support, their student has received from our faculty and staff. We may not have the largest enrollment, but what we can offer is a personalized educational experience where students are provided the support they need to learn at high levels.

We will be celebrating Valentines Day at Austin Tracy on Friday, February 14th. Our local businesses support our schools in a variety of ways. In order to support them on one of their busiest days, we will allow deliveries to ATE for Valentines Day. We will have tables set up in the front lobby to organize all deliveries. Deliveries will be given to students as they leave for the day. We will alter our dismissal schedule so that all students have time to pick up their items. NO BALLOONS or BREAKABLE items are allowed on the bus. Parents will need to pick up these items if they are delivered for a bus rider.

Reading to young children is an important way to help them build language skills. It exposes them to new words and ways of using language. It also helps them learn general information about the world, which makes it easier for them to learn about new subjects that are taught at school! Reading is a skill (like any sport or trade) that must be practiced. Even a few minutes of reading together gives you and your child a chance to slow down and connect with each other. And the sensory experience of sitting with you and hearing your voice also engages their brain in a way that makes learning easier. There’s no one right way to read to your child. You can do it at the same time every day or change up the routine. Your child doesn’t even need to be sitting with you — just sitting nearby with a book while they play can be a way to connect. The important thing is for your child to hear words and language and to have books be part of their daily life. Any steps you’re able to take can make a big difference!

The Dinner Table Project was created with the basic idea that families that eat together have better relationships. If children have better relationships with their parents and siblings, they are less likely to try drugs and alcohol. Children of families that share meals together also have better academic performance, higher self-esteem, a greater sense of resilience, lower risk of teen pregnancy, lower risk of depression, lower rates of obesity, and a lower likelihood of developing an eating disorder. We encourage families to eat together at least once a week with no electronics.
